Africans Rising welcomes the announcement on Africa Day, by the African Regional Organization of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-Africa), that it had joined Africans Rising. The continent’s largest organisation representing workers, ITUC-Africa has 16 million declared members and 103 affiliated trade union centres in 51 African countries.

In a statement,  ITUC-Africa General Secretary Kwasi Adu-Amankwah said African people and their civil society organizations, including workers and their trade unions were gearing up in the struggle against continuing exploitation, corruption and sell out of elites to foreign interests and to organize and mobilize for the achievement of rights, dignity, good governance, justice, peace and social progress as set out in the Kilimanjaro Declaration.

“ITUC-Africa believes that the Africans Rising Movement can make essential contribution to the attainment of our goals of decent work and decent life for all,” he said.
